St. Paul’s Congregational Church, Chatham Ontario, is seeking a lead pastor.

A Kingdom Opportunity
St. Paul’s Discover Life Church has been declaring the message of Christ to the municipality of Chatham-Kent and to the world beyond since 1989. A multi-generational congregation with approximately 100 people from all walks of life regularly attending, we occupy a building which is capable of seating 900. Still, we believe that our best Kingdom building days are yet ahead. We are seeking a Lead Pastor who will work closely with the Elders to implement our vision for our church, and to lead us into the next chapter God has for St. Paul’s.

We are seeking a Lead Pastor who:
 Demonstrates a deep, growing relationship with Christ
 Leads out of spiritual maturity, humility, and prayer
 Inspires and motivates others toward discipleship
 Builds strong, healthy teams and invests in staff development
 Has a heart for outreach and evangelism—both locally and globally
 Is approachable, steady, and relational
 Desires to plant roots and journey with a multigenerational church family

Core Responsibilities:

Vision & Leadership
 Partner with the Elders to implement our strategic vision
 Inspire the congregation toward a vibrant and fruitful future
 Encourage individuals to use their gifts for Kingdom impact

Preaching & Teaching
 Serve as the primary preaching voice (minimum 40 Sundays per year)
 Preach exegetically
 Ensure alignment of all teaching ministries with our Statement of Faith

Prayer & Worship
 Model and cultivate a life of prayer
 Collaborate with the worship team leaders to plan Sunday services, Evangelism, & Outreach
 Oversee evangelism ministries
 Expand online ministry opportunities
 Encourage the church to grow in its impact locally and globally

Congregational Care
 Provide a consistent culture of pastoral care, not only during significant life moments such as baptisms, weddings, funerals, and hospital visits, but at all times, being sensitive to the needs of the congregation.
 Provide ongoing pastoral counselling
 Support and encourage ministry leaders

Qualifications
 A deep love for Jesus and His church
 Graduate level theological training or equivalent
 Alignment with our Statement of Faith
 Minimum 5 years of pastoral experience
 Has pastored in a church of 50 -200
 Ideally has experienced the transition from a single pastor church to hiring an associate pastor
 Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
 Proven ability to build and inspire teams
 Spirit filled, prayer centered ministry posture
